This project was sent to us by a recently satisfied client. Their goal was to make their Villa feel less like an IKEA stock build-out and more of something that accurately reflected their personality and identity. They wanted their small villa turned into a custom home.
Villa Update
Here is what our client had to say!
“Our remodel was designed by us and we used IKEA cabinet boxes and their software to layout the kitchen. Our remodeler helped us with the final measurements. Remodel was done during COVID and ordering for IKEA products was done remotely and not in store.
We chose to use our kitchen floor tile under the kitchen and bath cabinets as toe kicks. We used the cabinet face toe kick just under the cabinet facing our living-dining area. In the prep/bar area we also incorporated two floating shelves. We used a combination of cabinet doors and drawer fronts and actually trimmed out the bottom half of one 40″ high wall cabinet to keep open and then used a 20” door for the top half of the cabinet. It worked very well. We used some glass insert doors for relief of all solid door fronts and glass insert doors for the cabinets facing the living area.
Working With The Cabinet Face
Sarah was invaluable for helping me understand the terminology of the components and how to utilize them when finishing the cabinetry. Her advice for what we would need to order to achieve the look we wanted was on spot. My husband did some of the finishing of trim, floating cabinets, etc. himself and when we needed some advice one of the owners helped with suggestions when we called.
We love the finished project and feel that using Cabinet face for the Ikea boxes and drawers made our small villa look uniquely ours and designer quality. To have a more seamless linear look we chose to have our lower cabinet drawer fronts and doors done with a vertical grain. We love the use of two different materials for the kitchen.
Kitchen cabinets were done in Slab Matte Champagne Metallic and Slab Vail acrylic with horizontal grain. The hues of Champagne are beautiful and look different from every angle which really makes it a pleasure to look at the cabinets. We mixed in some shaker-style doors with glass inserts along with slab doors and drawer fronts. The countertop in kitchen areas is Quartz Calcutta Natura.”
